Executive function coaching builds the brain-based skills teens need to move beyond wanting to get things done to actually doing them, correctly and on time. Unlike tutoring, which focuses on academic content, executive function coaching figures out why a teen gets stuck, then builds personalized tools to make school and life manageable. It’s not a discipline or motivation fix; it addresses a real, physical difference in how the ADHD brain manages effort and attention.
The difference my Executive Function Coaching can make
Teens move from “I want to but I can’t” to actually getting things done, often within the first few sessions
Reduces daily conflict at home over homework, chores, and responsibilities
Builds lasting internal skills instead of relying on constant parental oversight or external scaffolding
Dissolves years of built-up shame as teens understand the why behind their failed attempts, then experience strategies that actually work
Works alongside, not in place of, other supports, including transitions out of residential or wilderness programs, and applies to autistic teens as well as those with ADHD
Coaching Services I offer
The standard ADHD toolkit of planners, timers, and reward charts tells teens to use the very executive function skills they’re missing. As a trained ADHD Cognitive Engineer, I work at the level of the actual cognitive barrier, not the behavior sitting on top of it, building a bridge over that barrier instead of telling a teen to push through it.
As for my coaching sessions, I combine personal insight with practical strategies so teens can start homework, manage time, and follow through without a daily battle. Solutions are built with the teen, so they take ownership of the plan instead of resisting a rule handed down from above.
