Helping build self-direction

Life coaching for young adults bring more self-awareness and cognitive maturity to the table. Sessions help with the challenges specific to this stage of life: a rocky transition to college, unclear career direction, “failure to launch,” or adult social dynamics. Rather than generic advice, coaching identifies what’s driving the struggle and builds a personalized plan from there. The goal isn’t just getting through a rough patch; it’s building the self-direction a young adult needs to run their own life going forward.

How life coaching can help young adults

  • Reduces the shame and self-blame that often come with a rocky start to college or an unclear career path. Young adults learn it’s a timing and skills issue, not a character flaw
  • Rebuilds structure and follow-through for young adults who relied on parents, apps, or school systems to manage logistics and are now on their own for the first time
  • Provides clarity on career direction for those who feel lost, undecided, or paralyzed by too many options
  • Addresses “failure to launch” by identifying the specific barrier — motivation, confidence, executive function, or fear — rather than treating it as laziness
  • Builds real-world social skills and confidence for navigating adult relationships, roommates, and workplace dynamics
  • Helps young adults who’ve hit a setback (academic probation, a leave of absence, a failed first semester) find a way forward, often within a few sessions of real structure and support

My credentials to help young adults

I have 14 plus years of coaching, which means I’ve seen this exact pattern repeatedly: capable young adults who suddenly struggle once the built-in structure of high school disappears. I know how to rebuild that structure without recreating dependence.

As an ADHD Cognitive Engineer and former high school teacher of 17 years, I understand the specific skills gaps — executive function, task initiation, self-advocacy — that often go undiagnosed until college or early adulthood exposes them. I work with the full range of what young adults face, not just academic failure: career confusion, failure to launch, and social struggles all get the same root-cause approach.

My own path included a college reset before finishing summa cum laude and starting grad school a month later. I don’t just coach this transition; I’ve lived it myself.
